9th April 2008 - National Grading, High Wycombe
- Bob "spirit of judo" wins his
1st Kyu at this weekends competitive national grading. Winning 2 fights, if
my information is correct. Well done Bob, it's about time and well deserved.
No word as yet on the spirit of judo prize, but he's probably keeping that
quiet, now he's a hard man. Where's that Dan grade theory book .... now?
9th March 2008 - Sussex County Grading, Worthing
- Bob was 1st up in Seniors and did his
usual grading performance in his quest for 2nd Kyu and helps out the friends
he made in the warm up, by falling over. Spirit of Judo once again!
- Max convincingly wins both his fights to
move from
bottom
Green (10th Mon)
to middle Green (11th Mon).
It was a real shame he wasn't offered more fights to progress even more.
- Jacob won one, lost one and drew one
fight to move from top Yellow (6th Mon) to bottom
Orange
(7th Mon).
- Doug won one and lost two fights and
moves from top Yellow (6th Mon) to bottom
Orange
(7th Mon).
- Jo gets her Junior Brown Belt winning
both her two fights by Ippon and moves from
top Blue
(15th Mon) to bottom
Brown
(16th Mon).
2nd February 2008 - Midland Area Open -20 Age bands, Walsall
- Two club members attend, this national
event.
- First up was Max in the B band U60
class. This was Max's first attempt and this level, he lost both of
his fights in a very competitive knockout class, the first fight was with
the eventual Silver medal winner and the second was with the Bronze medal
winner. So a really tough draw but both fights were very competitive
and Max did very well and will have gained valuable experience.
- Jo was in the B band O78 class and
lost her 1st fight by Ippon to the winner of the class, then she won her
second fight by Ippon to take the Silver medal in the class. After her
success in Wales last month this is Jo's second national medal this year so
far!

Midlands Age Bands
12th January 2008 - Welsh Open -20 Age bands, Cardiff
- Jo wins her first national level medal,
a bronze in the B Age Band +63 class. She won
her pool with 2 wins, one by superior score and the other by Ippon (2 x
wazari), however she lost in the knockout phase by a minor score to
the silver medallist. Good experience gained and a great result in her
1st step up to national level comps.
9th December 2007 - Sussex County Grading, Worthing
- Max wins all his fights to move from top
Orange (9th Mon) to
bottom
Green (10th Mon),
the only shame is he was only able to move up one grade because of his
theory. Another impressive performance. Shame football doesn't get cancelled
more often and with more notice next time please.
- Jo wins all three fights by Ippon and moves from bottom
Blue (13th Mon)
to top Blue
(15th Mon)
- Tim dislocates his finger (wimp!).
- Steve had a tough grading, nobody to fight
again, failed to go up but gained more valuable experience.
11th November 2007 - Sussex Junior Red and Yellow Belt Open, Worthing
Two of our players attended and both came away

performance gained a well earned Bronze.
